Why BADASS Labs Is THE Biotech Incubator in the Bay Area

by DAVID.KIEWLICH | Apr 16, 2026 | Biotech

Do you have the killer biotech idea that could cure a disease, revolutionize manufacturing, and fix the climate? But you are holding back because you’re not sure how to turn that vision into reality? The cost of lab build outs are so expensive! You can’t afford that expensive piece of equipment you need. And you don’t want to take on equity until you’ve made a major milestone. The truth is, you aren’t alone. Many scientists and dreamers feel this way, as our founder, Dr. David Kiewlich, was one of those individuals for 18 months.

The Problem with Biotech Incubators Incubating for Equity

Incubators and accelerators focus primarily on making money and taking equity and IP. In other words, if you don’t want to give up a chunk of your company and IP, you can’t take part. But there’s a more pressing issue. Many of our innovative founders want to take a chance in the Bay Area to build their wet lab but are blocked from entering due to space restrictions and affordability. So much brilliant minds and amazing innovation are lost to the industry. We want to be different and help scientists who feel stuck, so they can bring their amazing biotech ideas to fruition!

Welcome to BADASS Labs.

We are a nonprofit biotech incubator that exists to dismantle these barriers and create a coworking laboratory for next-gen science. We don’t take equity or IP. Our members have 24/7 access to state of the art wet labs and infrastructure that rival world class institutions with a 3 month minimum commitment. We also have a flat fee structure that includes other services and there is no forced graduation. Our goal is simple: we are a nonprofit 501c3 dedicated to serving humanity and the inclusive biotech ecosystem. Our team is dedicated to your success!

BADASS Lab Member Success
